Crisis Center Hotline (24-Hour Telephone and Walk In) Contact the Montgomery County Crisis Center for problems dealing with stress, mental illness, or emotional instability when a response should not wait. It is possible to prepare for some kinds of emergencies, and it is wise to buy items that will allow you to survive the emergency conditions of storms and power failures. The Montgomery County Homeland Security Department recommends that all families have these items stored "just in case." And if you ever need to evacuate, carry as many of these items as possible:
  1. Water - three gallons per person - refill every six months
  2. Food - nonperishables such as canned meat, bottled juice, powdered milk, and crackers
  3. Manual (not electric) can opener
  4. Change of clothes
  5. Medications - at least three days worth of prescription drugs
  6. Flashlight (Do not use candles if the lights go out.)
  7. Battery-powered radio
  8. Hygiene items like soap, toilet paper, and a toothbrush
  9. First aid kit - include bandages and antiseptic
